Rondo Pastiche is the result of one of the more unusual and inventive compositional projects in which I have participated. The work was commissioned by my good friend Brynn Belyea for his wonderful band program at Morro Bay High School (CA). Each student in the band was given the opportunity to compose a very short musical phrase and then these phrases were submitted to be used in the final piece. My good friend (and amazing composer) Daniel Bukvich and I divided up these student contributions and then composed sections of the piece using them as the basis for our own composition. At the end, we wove the pieces together into a large rondo form...truly a unique collaborative effort.
